Admissions


KSU Undergraduate Admission

Undergraduate admissions are handled centrally through the KSU Admissions Office. Admission to Kansas State University is granted to any individual who has graduated from an accredited Kansas high school. Out-of-state applicants are expected to show strong academic class rank and high school grades and good scores on the ACT. Students who have earned college or university credit must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale to qualify for admission.

CIS Graduate Admission

Applications for graduate study are handled directly by the CIS Department. The basic admissions requirements are:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science area
  • For international students whose native tongue is not English; the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), minimum score of 575/233.
  • For M.S./Ph.D. applicants; minimum GRE scores of 400/400 Verbal, 650/700 Quantitative, and 4.0/4.5 Analytical Writing.
Please also consult the admissions requirements for the degree (M.S., M.S.E., Ph.D.) in which you are interested. Deadlines for applications are:
  • For all international students and students requesting financial aid:
    • July 1: for spring semester
    • December 1: for summer semester
    • February 1: for fall semester
  • U.S. applicants not requesting financial aid may apply one month later than the dates stated above.
In addition, the Kansas State University Graduate School requires application fees be sent with the applications: 
  • $30 application fee for U.S. citizens and permanent residents
  • $55 application fee for international applicants

     

Travel Grants:
     A limited number of travel grants are available to support a trip to K-State for applicants to our PhD program. The purpose of the trip will be to provide future students with the opportunity to know more about our research program and meet with our faculty and students. The student should have applied to our PhD program to be eligible for this grant. Please send email to cis-gradapps@ksu.edu for more details.
