CIS 10X Home Page

Welcome to the CIS10X Home Page - A virtual classroom course.

CIS10X is not in itself a course. It is a reference to a series of 4 courses. Each course is 1 credit hour and lasts approximately 3½ weeks. Each of the four courses runs from a website, SAM2003, and is accessible only by students with a valid username and password.

The class topics are:
CIS 101: Internet Services and Windows XP
CIS 102: Spreadsheets using the Microsoft Excel application
CIS 103: Databases using the Microsoft Access application
CIS 104: Word Processing using the Microsoft Word application

Each of the 102-104 classes consists of two sets of pre-quiz - training - quiz scenarios. The student takes the pre-quiz consisting of a number of tasks to perform. Then, based on the number of tasks not performed correctly, a training module is created. The student must then go through the entire training module and correctly complete each of the tasks. Upon completion of the training, the quiz itself is presented. It is this quiz which is actually graded and posted to the student's file.

101 is a little different in that it does not use the same pre-quiz - training - quiz scenario. Instead, a set of lecture notes is posted on the web for the student to study. Then an online quiz consisting of a series of true/false and multiple choice questions is taken.

A student's grade is based on two quizzes and a final exam in each class.

Current course information may be accessed through the student's K-State Online account after they are enrolled.
