Goals

  • Encourage students to think about how their actions, particularly those involving information technology, may affect others.
  • Expose students to issues in ethics, law, market, and "code" that drive the information technology arena and its effects on business, industry, governmental policy, and society.
  • Acquaint students with the ethical reponsibilities they will be expected to accept in their professional careers.
  • Offer students experience in solving problems that arise as law, technology, and market forces become increasingly dependent on information technology.
  • Offer students experience in thinking critically about ethical issues in computing.
  • Offer students experience in writing "white paper" solutions to problems arising from the increasing use of information technology
    throughout society.
